Relationship Between Growth and Serum Lactate Dehydrogenase Activity and the Development of Ascites in Broilers Subjected to Skip-a-day Feed Restriction

چکیده
The present experiment was carried out to determine whether there is any relationship between the growth and the activity of serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and the incidence of ascites in broiler chickens. Dietary treatments consisted of a control met NRC (1994) recommendations during 1-21 and 2142d and a skip-a-day feed removal with 24h fasting on 9, 11 and 13d. The skip-a-day feed restriction resulted in reduced weekly body weights and decreased weight gain (P<0.0015) and feed intake (P<0.0072) over the realimentation period (14-42d). The skip-a-day feed removal enhanced the activity of serum LDH measured at 42 days of age (P<0.026). Our data demonstrated that there were no statistically significant differences between serum LDH activity and ascitic birds.

Endogenous and environmental factors interactions that contribute to the development of ascites in broiler chickens: a review
The increasing susceptibility of broiler chickens to ascites syndrome has coincided with a continuing genetic and nutritional improvement in their feed efficiency and growth rate. Ascites is multifactorial and interactions between environmental and endogenous factors play a particularly important role. The selection of fast growing broilers for high feed efficiency, which is characterized by hy...

Six hundred 1-d old male broilers (Ross 308) were assigned into four experimental groups; each was composed of 5replications of 30 birds including control (0), 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg nano-ZnO in the basal diets. Birds were exposed to low ambient temperature (15 to 18 ˚C) to induce ascites. Blood parameters including; activity of aspartate transferase (AST), alanine transferase (ALT), lactate dehyd...

Fifty 18-day-old broilers were used to investigate the effects of 30% energy restriction from 18∼48 d on growth and slaughter performance, serum biochemical parameters, and gene expression of WDTC1 and Lpin2 in hepatic tissue. Fifty 18-day-old Arbor Acres female broilers were randomly divided to ad libitum group (control) and energy restriction group (experimental) and housed individually. The ...
متن کاملEffects of feed restriction and dietary fat type on mRNA expression of liver fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) in broilers
Background: Liver fatty acid-binding protein (L-FABP) is the main cytosolic binding site for long chain fatty acids in hepatocytes. FABPs enhance the uptake of fatty acids into the cell by increasing their concentration due to decreasing concentration of unbound fatty acids inside the cell. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of dietary unsaturated to saturated fatty a...

Six hundred 1-d-old male broilers (Ross 308) were assigned to four experimental groups; each was composed of 5 floor pen replications of 30 birds including control (no enalapril), 15, 30 and 60 ppm enalapril in the drinking water. From d 21 to 49, all the chicks were exposed to low ambient temperature to induce ascites. Mortalities were inspected to determine the cause of death and diagnose of ...
